Ola S1 Electric Scooter: Everything You Need to Know About the Recall

Published

on

Ola Electric, the Indian electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently issued a recall for their highly popular S1 electric scooter. The recall comes after reports of the scooter’s front suspension breaking and causing accidents, which poses a significant safety risk to the riders and road safety. The company has taken swift action to address the issue and has offered a free upgrade of the front suspension to all customers of the S1 scooter.

The recall of the Ola S1 electric scooter is a bold move by the company, indicating their commitment to safety and customer satisfaction. The Ola S1 electric scooter has been a popular choice among Indian consumers since its launch in 15th August 2021. It boasts an impressive range up to 121 km on a single charge, making it one of the most practical and efficient electric scooters in the market. However, the recent recall highlights the importance of manufacturing quality control, even for the most popular and well-known products.

What Is the Front Fork Issue About?

The news of Ola recalling S1 electric scooters over a front fork issue has caught the market by surprise. Ola Electric, which is an EV arm of the ridesharing giant Ola has revealed that the manufacturing snag came to light during regular quality inspections. The defective part in question is the front fork of the S1 Pro and S1 electric scooters, which have been found to have a ‘hydraulic gas compression problem’. This is a major safety hazard that could lead to an accident due to sudden malfunction of the suspension

Ola Electric is offering a free upgrade to all affected customers who can bring in their scooters for servicing at any of their service centers across India. The customers will also be eligible for additional benefits such as an extended warranty on the new parts or Ola credits or discounts on select products.

Who Will Be Eligible for the Free Upgrade?

According to recent reports, Ola Electric has recalled the Ola S1 electric scooter for fixing the front fork issue. The company has announced that customers can upgrade their scooters with the new front fork for free of cost. The appointment window for the same will open from March 22, 2023.

All customers who purchased the Ola S1 electric scooter will be eligible for a free upgrade to the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter. According to a statement released by Ola Electric, the company is offering a free suspension upgrade for its flagship S1 Pro scooter, which will be offered to both S1 Pro and S1 customers. The statement also noted that the company is committed to ensuring the highest safety and quality standards for its vehicles.

What is the present scope of Electric vehicles in India?

Electric vehicles have been slow but steady to pick up the pace of adoption in India. But the reception of the Electric vehicles ranging from Ola’s two wheeler scooty, the three wheeler rickshaws to Tata’s Nexon EV has been astounding.

There may arise some hiccups in the process as the ecosystem for EV manufacturing comes up and matures enough to not yield such unfortunate faults that pose threat to road safety. But the adoption of EV in a combustion engine hungry market, is an uphill task, and would take significant impetus to remove the inertia residing in the people against EV. This is the need of the hour, since it is our responsibility to take futuristic measures to safeguard our environment and bring in greater quality of life for humanity at large.
