VAYU- EV startup on a bull run for sustainable vehicular mobility

Published

on

As India tries to free itself from the clutches of carbon emissions, EV startup VAYU comes in handy to bring EV mobility into fashion. The brand is renting out custom-made EVs. The shelf has a variety of plans ranging from one week up to six months, starting from INR 950/week. They are all-inclusive of taxes, insurances, and home delivery of the scooter, as well as maintenance and repair at the user’s home. Customers can book via the app or by phone. The company offers both individuals and businesses safe and sustainable mobility solutions in Delhi/NCR.

VA-YU, a Government of India-recognized start-up has been in operation since May 2020. It started with 40 scooters, which has surged to a fleet of 300 scooters, checking post a big milestone as it was across two lockdowns (where VA-YU has been a lifeline to gig workers, delivery personnel, and frontline staff).

CEO of VA-YU – Ashish Aggarwal

Ashish Aggarwal commented on the milestone, “This is for us and for our future generations, we deserve clean air. It is a matter of pride for us to achieve 20 Lac kilometers in such a short period of time. We have created a service that has great ease of use and convenience for users, and there is high acceptability in the market for it. The significant saving of fuel, as well as the safety and the environmental impact of the service, has a lot of resonance with the residents of the city. We are looking at further expansion and more kilometers notched up in the next financial year.”

The scooters are cleaned and disinfected before being delivered to the customer’s doorstep. VA-YU’s asset utilization has been 97 percent across 2 lockdowns, with downtime being less than 1 percent. Nearly, the entire fleet is always available to customers and is constantly running.

Vayu is on a mission to reduce air pollution in cities such as Delhi. It has converted petrol Km’s to electric Km’s. The fully electric, zero-emission scooters are custom-made to be used for both city commutes and delivery.

The latest made in India EV drive train comes with swappable batteries which allow it to travel up to 70km in one charge. Customized offerings by the company are backed by AI-enabled data analysis and integrated GPS technology.

VAYU is available at the moment in Delhi NCR but plans to grow exponentially in the coming months. The fleet will be increased to 15000 by the end of the next year and will be available in Tier-I & II cities. The company will also offer battery swapping services.

As electric mobility gains traction in the public domain, startups like Vayu pave the way for a sustainable slash in vehicular mobility run by fossil fuel.
