Hyderabad-based sustainable footwear brand Neeman’s launches “ReLive You” collection

Neeman’s, India’s first sustainable footwear brand, has launched a new collection called “ReLive You,” which is made entirely of recycled plastic bottles. The Hyderabad based brand founded in 2018 by Taran Chhabra and Amar Preet, is an online D2C brand that offers a line of sneakers, loafers, and joggers.

The use of Merino Wool Fibre by Neeman’s to manufacture their shoes attracted both critics and customers. Since its inception, the startup has raised 4.6 million from seven investors including “Sixth Sense Ventures”. “The investment from Sixth Sense Ventures reassures us that we are taking the right steps and strengthens our commitment to providing people with superior quality comfortable, eco-friendly and stylish footwear,” said Taran talking about the investment.

How Neeman’s started?

The journey of the brand started when Taran had to cancel one of his foreign trips due to overpacking. There were five shoes for five different purposes in his luggage. At that point, he realized there was a need to manufacture shoes that are both comfortable and stylish, while also using eco-friendly materials.

“I discovered that footwear in India was either stylish or comfortable. So I travelled to several countries to learn more. I figured that this craft is more of an art than science. Being a shoe enthusiast, I wanted to address this void and create footgear that was comfortable all day and anywhere,” said Taran.

The “ReLive You” collection, is made from 100 per cent recycled PET Bottles. It comes in four styles, Beat the Blues, Brave the Night, Love the Tan, and Embrace the Greys. Talking about the collection, Taran said, “We are excited to launch ReLive You, a notable successor of the popular ReLive Knits sneakers. On one hand, this new collection reiterates the magnificence of individualism and, on the other, it restates our unwavering commitment to the planet and you, our customers.”

Future of India’s footwear industry.

According to reports, India’s footwear industry is expected to reach $9.70 billion in 2020, growing by 8.28 per cent CAGR between 2020 and 2025. As the market for non-leather shoes grows, the company plans to tap into it. Other brands in the sustainable footwear market include Paaduks, Nothing New, All Birds, PAIO, Achilles’ Heels and “The Cai Store”.
