Meet Garuda Aerospace: Transforming Agriculture with Kisan Drones

Published

on

In a remarkable stride towards transforming Indian agriculture, drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace has gathered considerable recognition and success. Led by the visionary entrepreneur Agnishwar Jayaprakash, the company has secured a massive order of 400 Agri Kisan Drones from the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). With this achievement, Garuda Aerospace’s order book tally has soared to an impressive 10,000 drones for this year alone. The collaboration between Garuda Aerospace and IFFCO aims to revolutionize the agricultural sector by introducing the state-of-the-art Garuda Kisan Drone at the IFFCO’ Drone Yatra’ in Karnataka. This technological breakthrough promises to enhance farmers’ efficiency and productivity by enabling them to utilize Nano Urea spraying through Precision Agriculture Drones.

Garuda Aerospace, founded in 2015 by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, started on a mission to cover various industries through emerging technologies. Today, the company boasts over 750 clients and offers more than 50 services across 84 cities in India. The recent implementation of the Drone Rules 2021 by the Indian government has provided a significant impetus for the growth of the drone sector. Garuda Aerospace has witnessed phenomenal success, with agriculture emerging as the primary revenue driver for the company.

The Power of Kisan Drones

Garuda Aerospace’s flagship product, the Garuda Kisan Drone, has proven immensely helpful for farmers. The drones facilitate field inspections, large-scale mapping, and the precise spraying of fertilizers and pesticides. By adopting these drones, farmers have experienced a remarkable increase in food crop productivity, up to 27% improvement, while reducing pesticide usage by 70% and water consumption by 80%. This, in turn, has resulted in substantial cost savings for farmers, making adopting drones an economically viable solution.

Jayaprakash said with Kisan Drones, “Most next-generation farmers want to avoid becoming farmers. Drone-based solutions give them a tag of a ‘technocrat,’ and they feel more respected. As we advance, this will change agriculture as we know it.”

Garuda Aerospace’s collaboration with IFFCO aligns with the government’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi,” aiming to uplift the rural economy. IFFCO’s ambitious nationwide campaign to procure 2,500 Kisan Drones as spray solutions for Nano Urea and Nano DAP products supports the development of 5,000 rural entrepreneurs trained in drone spraying and promotes sustainable agriculture and holistic cooperative development. By empowering farmers with innovative technology, Garuda Aerospace and IFFCO are paving the way for a brighter future for Indian agriculture.

Expanding Horizons

The success of Garuda Aerospace extends beyond agriculture. The company actively explores opportunities in various sectors, including video surveillance, emergency supply, and delivery drones. Its partnerships with industry leaders such as Lockheed Martin Canada CDL and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) demonstrate its commitment to providing advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles software solutions for defense and commercial purposes.

Garuda Aerospace’s collaborative efforts with government PSUs and private companies have been instrumental in its growth journey. Partnerships with Naini Aerospace Engineering Ltd (NAeL), HAL, BEML, and Cognizant have further solidified the company’s position as a leader in the drone technology space.

Achal Kataria, vice president and India country head, Cognizant, says, “Drone services have emerged as a rapidly expanding technology sector that holds immense potential for various industries including agriculture, manufacturing, energy and utilities, retail, and logistics. These industries stand to gain significant benefits from using drone technology.”

These collaborations combine expertise, knowledge, and resources to scale production and provide cutting-edge solutions to various industries.

With an increasing demand for drones domestically and internationally, Garuda Aerospace aims for exponential growth. The company focuses on exporting 10,000 drones in the next 4 to 6 months, feeding to markets in India, Malaysia, South America, and the Gulf countries. Garuda Aerospace’s recent funding round of $22 million, led by SphitiCap, further boosts its ability to scale up operations and develop advanced drone solutions for defense and aerospace sectors in collaboration with global partners.

Garuda Aerospace’s achievements in drone technology, particularly in agriculture, have paved the way for a revolution in Indian farming practices. By empowering farmers with cutting-edge solutions, the company enables them to maximize their efficiency, reduce costs, and adopt sustainable agricultural practices. With its relentless pursuit of innovation and strategic collaborations, Garuda Aerospace is set to lead the way in shaping the future of the drone technology industry.
